They are amazing with a little Brie or Chèvre on a plain cracker, or on turkey instead of cranberries. Although the recipe doesn’t call for it, you can water process the jars for longer-term storage. Just process for the shortest time needed to get the job done.

Here’s the recipe https://www.baconismagic.ca/loka-snacks/pickled-blueberry-recipes/

I made Apple cinnamon “brandy”, Apple, pear, lemon and ginger “brandy”. It’s easy, I used 1 gallon mason jars, cut up fruit and spices, fill jar to the rim, add 1 cup of sugar, then fill with vodka. Turn jars once a day for a week then once a week for a month. After at least 3 months, strain liquid from fruit and place in bottles. This makes great Christmas gifts, especially when the fruit is free!

If so, could it be omitted? Or maybe swapped with a cinnamon stick?
